Forget Me Not, supervised by Valérie GOURANTON, is an artistic mixed reality installation (virtual and augmented reality), under the artistic direction of visual artist Alma OSKOUEI.
Forget Me Not tells the story of a young woman who unexpectedly inherits the estate of a mysterious aunt she knows nothing about... The user embodies this young woman, traveling through various locations to discover the perspectives of those close to this mysterious relative.
"Can gestures tell stories? This year, we will attempt to develop an experience based on gestures that build a narrative. The user, like an archaeologist of the recent past, is invited to explore the traces of family memory through movement. Through an augmented reality device, the hand becomes a tool for investigation, capable of revealing various narrative fragments. [...] In search of a true story, we will explore how the body can become a poetic space, linking the sensitive between real and virtual space, finding a way to defy oblivion."
— Project Intent StatementThe user faces a physical sculpture representing a tree whose branches are the hands of the different characters they will encounter. Through the frozen gestures of these hands, they already represent the person narrating the story associated with them.
The work is structured around three phases:
A menu allows for language selection. The user is then immersed in the work via a narrative introduction in augmented reality, allowing them to understand how to navigate intuitively.
The viewer observes their real environment enriched with virtual elements. Interactions with the sculpture's hands transport the user into story scenes.
The user is plunged into a virtual world to explore, where various protagonists recount their memories to reconstruct the aunt's full story.
